At this time, there is no regulating agency for dog toy safety in terms of toxic materials. The dogs love their toys and need their mental (and physical) stimulation when the weather is bad and they can’t get out and run. This means some due diligence on our parts as pet parents to make sure toys are safe!
We’ve made a conscious effort to not use toys, treats or dishes made in China. This is not to say that just because a toy is made in the USA it is not made with toxins. Things to look out for:
- PVC
- Phthalates
- BPA
- Lead
- Chromium
- Arsenic
- Bromine
- Formaldehyde
Don’t be afraid to contact the manufacturer! If they decline to answer, that’s a huge red flag right there. I wish this list was longer but I will update it as often as I can.
